What is a botnet?

The name botnet (robot + network) is given to a group of malware-infected devices that are all connected to the internet. The infection starts in a single location (device) and travels through the network.

It can take over browsers and redirect users to other infected websites where the virus can steal their information. Often, the botnet will run in the background, meaning that the user may not be aware of the breach.
