What is a computer virus?
A computer virus is a piece of software that has been created to cause harm to the contents of your computer system. A virus can be instigated by clicking on a link in an email or on a website that makes the user inadvertently download the malicious software.
The computer virus could allow an unethical hacker to steal personal information like bank details and website passwords.
