What is the Data Protection Act 1998?
The Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) is currently the most recent edition of the laws governing data protection in the UK. Soon to be superseded by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) the Data Protection Act covers the rights of individuals, known as Data Subjects. The DPA also gives instructions to data processors and data controllers on how to adequately protect personal data.
